Conservation Commission · Meeting of August 13, 2026

WALTHAM — The Waltham Conservation Commission approved a watershed stormwater plan and pressed the city over an unresolved conservation restriction. Members voted 5-0 to issue a determination allowing an underground stormwater system at 153 Second Ave., near Cambridge's Hobbs Brook Reservoir, after adding a condition requiring the applicant to record the maintenance plan at the registry of deeds. The panel also voted 5-0 to let Conservation Agent Julia Abbott sign off on a three-unit development prospectus at 51 Bacon Street.

Separately, Chair William Doyle said of the Fernald golf facility permit, "The project was approved. It's not at a standstill," even as staff confirmed the city has not responded to a request justifying why no conservation restriction has been placed on the 200 Trapelo Road parcel. Secretary Gerard Dufromont said the restriction issue has recurred "for 20 years."
