Conservation Commission · Meeting of October 8, 2026
Waltham's Conservation Commission cleared an early review step for a 283-unit housing project and approved two wetlands permits. The board voted 5-0, with Secretary Gerard Dufromont abstaining as an abutter, to let Chair William Doyle or Conservation Agent Julia Abbott sign a development prospectus for BXP's plan to replace a roughly 280,000-square-foot office building at 1000 Winter Street with 283 apartments; BXP's Chris Carr said the team hopes to reach City Council by November. The commission also voted 6-0 to issue a Positive 2B/Negative 3 determination for a reduced-footprint parking lot repaving at 231 Second Ave, conditioned on recording the O&M plan at the Registry of Deeds, and voted 6-0 to issue an Order of Conditions for a commercial rebuild at 234 Calvary Street.
Vice Chair Lisa Limonciello, who will miss the October 22 meeting, asked that "no decisions be made" on nine pending draft conservation restrictions before the commission's November 5 session.
