Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of August 25, 2026

Waltham's Zoning Board of Appeals approved a three-car garage variance at 50 Wimbledon Circle and granted a sixth-month extension for a stalled Main Street teardown. Attorney Bret Francis represented both cases before Chair John Sergi, Clerk Matthew Deveaux, and members Glenna Gelineau, Stephen Taranto and Joseph Attardo, who voted 5-0 on each matter. The Wimbledon Circle decision added conditions requiring removal of a tent and shed from City of Cambridge Water Department land and cooperation on boundary markers, after Sergi insisted, "I'd like your proposed language before the end of the night." Five residents raised their hands in support; no one opposed.

For the 1122-1130 Main Street demolition project, now awaiting building permits more than 30 days after filing, Clerk Deveaux noted dryly, "Final extension is final extension," before voting yes alongside the rest of the board on a six-month extension.
