Historical Commission · Meeting of September 14, 2026
WALTHAM — The Waltham Historical Commission voted to delay demolition of a 19th-century duplex while clearing two other properties for teardown. Commissioners voted 5-1 to impose a one-year demolition delay on 107-111 Central Street, an 1834 mill-village house, over objections from developer representative Ron Cincotta, who said the delay complicates construction on an adjacent, already-approved townhouse project. The same night, the board unanimously cleared 103-105 Central Street for demolition without delay and cleared two wings of the 1825 Clark farmhouse at Chapel Hill Chauncey Hall School for demolition.
Chair Mort Isaacson said of the preserved house, "There are very few houses left now on Central Street that date from that period." The commission also unanimously backed a Community Preservation Committee funding request for the Community Day Center's 1890 building at 20 Felton Street and approved $1,200 for fall landscaping at the city-owned Stonehurst estate.
