Historical Commission · Meeting of April 13, 2026

Waltham Historical Commission clears three properties for demolition. The commission found 1130 Main Street and 32 Maple Street not preferably preserved in unanimous votes, clearing the way for demolition under the town's delay ordinance. The commission voted 4-3 to allow demolition of 135 Woerd Avenue, a Craftsman-influenced bungalow listed in the Massachusetts Cultural Resources database, despite identifying it as historically significant.

The house faces state-mandated lead-abatement requirements. The commission also approved site plans for 687-709 Main Street that include preservation of historic buildings, and authorized reprinting of historical brochures. The FY2027 budget, which includes a $1,000 increase for printing, was approved.
