License Commission · Meeting of October 28, 2026

WALTHAM — The Waltham License Commission gave the owners of the shuttered Rendezvous restaurant until its January meeting to show progress on selling a liquor license dormant since 2020. Representatives Moses Kalimba, James Wachika and Richard Simongo told commissioners three prospective buyers have fallen through and the 135 Inc. corporation now owes back meal taxes to the state. Police liaison Lieutenant Detective Michael Moriarty told the group, "it's getting way beyond, way, way beyond" and warned the license could revert to the city if no active location is found.

The commission also approved a Brandeis University license consolidation covering three campus venues, a common victualer license transfer to a new taco restaurant at 137-139 Prospect Street under manager William Garcia, and dismissed a complaint against Tessie's West bartender Brian O'Toole following a September 13 police report.
