License Commission · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Waltham License Commission approved new licenses for a Korean fried-chicken restaurant and a relocated Dominican restaurant at its Sept. 23 meeting. Attorney Russell Chen won approval for Moody BBQ Inc.'s BBQ Chicken at 137 Moody Street, a 45-seat, 2,350-square-foot restaurant with new manager Wei Xin; owner Mr. Jung operates about ten BBQ Chicken franchises statewide. The board also cleared Dominican Grill's move to 657 Main Street; representing attorney Howie Rock said renovations are complete after a yearlong fire closure, with an anticipated Oct. 12 reopening.
Commissioners approved a month of one-day alcohol permits for Bentley University events drawing crowds up to 2,000 people. The board placed on file a Sharper's Cafe incident report involving racial slurs after Commissioner Kevin Ritcey, who abstained on the vote, said conflicting witness accounts "leaves a little doubt in my mind of what might have happened there."
