City Council · Meeting of October 26, 2026

WALTHAM — The Waltham City Council recessed a special permit hearing on a Prestige Car Wash redesign at 101 Elm Street until December 14 after raising sidewalk and traffic concerns. Attorney Joseph M. Connors Jr., representing the petitioner, proposed a new facade, roof and automatic pay stations without altering the car wash's footprint. Councillor Joseph P. LaCava called the renovation "all superficial and it's all faux," pressing for proof the pay stations would speed traffic.

Councillor Emma Tzioumis said nearby sidewalks "are a bit dangerous" and crack-prone near the commuter rail station and McKenna Playground. Separately, the council approved a first reading of a $462,755 loan for police station design work, then tabled it, and confirmed Richard Pizzi Jr. and Marcia MacClary to the Council on Aging on 12-0 roll calls, with Councilors Paul S. Katz and Anthony LaFauci absent.
