Waltham Ordinances & Rules elects Harris as 2026 chair

Waltham Ordinances & Rules Committee unanimously elected Councillor Harris as Chair for 2026, with all five members present voting for her. The committee tabled two special permit applications and three MIRROD zoning amendments after President Logan moved to authorize a consultant to conduct independent impact studies and communicate with city departments and the Mayor. Keir Evans of BXP described plans for 1,500 units across two MIRROD districts, with a target shovel-in-the-ground date of July 2026.
Councillor Hanley requested the Superintendent attend the next meeting to discuss projected school system growth. A resolution requesting amendments to inclusionary zoning to align with MAPC was also tabled.
