Traffic Commission approves Lions Club parade, Lowell Street safety improvements

Waltham Traffic Commission approves comprehensive Lowell Street safety improvements and parking changes. The commission voted unanimously to implement a multi-intersection plan for Lowell Street, including rumble strips, curb extensions, all-way stops, pavement markings, and a citywide 20-miles-per-hour safety zone designation, backed by Mayor McCarthy and ward councillors. The commission also approved two-foot restrictions on parking near driveways, a compromise between Councillor Logan and Councillor Harris from prior competing proposals, and directed the Traffic Engineer to request an additional eighteen thousand dollars in FY26 funding for municipal parking lot lighting costs.
The Lions Club parade received approval for October 24, and temporary parking restrictions near Bentley University's World Cup practice facility were authorized from June 8 through July 30.
