Traffic Commission approves EV chargers and pedestrian safety upgrades.

Traffic Commission · Meeting of January 15, 2026

Waltham Traffic Commission approves 31 electric vehicle charger installations and pedestrian safety upgrades. The Commission voted unanimously to install EV spaces across nine municipal parking lots, with specifics on fees and time limits deferred to a future meeting, while also approving a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon at Main Street and Wellington Street to enhance pedestrian crossing safety. The Commission accepted traffic analyses for a four-unit residential development at 20 Williams Street and approved revised turn restrictions for the proposed Seasons Corner Market gas station modification at 962 Main Street, allowing eastbound left turns at a westerly curb cut.

Two road races were approved for spring 2026: Shifter's 5K on April 4 and Middlesex County Corporate Fun Run 5K on June 8.
