WALTHAM — Parks-Recreation Board approves FY 2027 budget with new positions and expanded operations. Director Kim Hebert's proposal includes an Assistant Superintendent for Park Rangers, four additional facility maintenance positions at 200 Trapelo Road, and a full-time Administrative Assistant, along with salary and cost-of-living increases. The budget adds line items for Lawrence School utilities, Prospect Hill Park amenities, portable bathrooms at 200 Trapelo Road, and Veterans Rink utilities, while reducing Chill Zone operating costs by ten thousand dollars.
The Board unanimously approved the budget by a vote of 6-0. Facility improvements include the opening of Prospect Hill Park's vehicle access road on April 1st and artificial turf fields on March 29, 2026, with pavilion rentals now available.
