Waltham Parks-Recreation Board approves summer wage increases to boost retention. Director Kim Hebert and the seven-member board unanimously backed raises of one dollar per hour for summer assistant directors and specialty supervisors and fifty cents per hour for program instructors and attendants, citing the fifteen-dollar-per-hour state minimum wage and the need to sustain workforce stability. The board received updates from Waltham Youth Soccer Vice President Peter Fekkes on the league's one thousand participants and discussed the Community Development Block Grant, with Hebert reporting no beneficial application could be crafted this year.
Facility work at 200 Trapelo Road continues on demolition and exterior projects, with Phase II recreation amenities construction to begin when temperatures rise.
