WALTHAM — Long Term Debt Committee unanimously approves two loan authorizations totaling $5.87 million. Councillor Durkee was elected Chair for 2026. The committee approved $771,600 for design and architectural services to relocate the Department of Public Works to 200 Trapelo Road, with Capital Planning and Works Director Mike Chiasson confirming the entire department will move there.
A second authorization of $5,100,000 for the Koutoujian Playground and Woerd Avenue Environmental Mitigation Project was approved on a voice vote, with Housing Department representative Casey Brenner reporting six bids received and three low bidders under review; the project will bring the city into compliance with state cleanup commitments with no fines issued to date.
