Finance Committee elects Katz as chair; accepts three mayoral gifts.

WALTHAM — Finance Committee names Katz 2026 chair; absent nominee defeated LaFauci in three-to-one vote. Councillor Durkee, King, and Vice President LeBlanc voted for Katz; LaFauci alone supported himself. With Katz absent, the committee installed LaFauci as chair pro-tem after Vice President LeBlanc questioned serving simultaneously as both VP and Committee Chair.

The four present members also approved three mayoral gifts: historic papers from the estates of Reuben H. Caughey and E. Arliene Richards dating to the 1800s, 300 toys from the U.S.

Marines Toy for Tots for city families, and a $183,432 Eversource Energy rebate for LED streetlight conversion, explained by Inspector of Wires Tim Kelly.
