WALTHAM — Finance Committee approves $564,581 for school contract contingency in mid-year funding push. Chair Councillor Katz led the vote backing the appropriation for the first year of a three-year Waltham Educators Association agreement, with Superintendent Marisa Mendonsa explaining financial terms and workforce schedule changes; the School Department is already drawing $1,946,279 from current contingency, and second and third year costs will appear in future operating budgets. The committee also approved $275,000 for conceptual engineering of Farwell Street Bridge replacement, $9,500 for a traffic safety beacon on Trapelo Road, and $13,520.93 combined for copy machines and office equipment.
