Finance Committee · Meeting of March 16, 2026

WALTHAM — Finance Committee approves $174,541 for school special education out-of-district tuition shortfall. School Superintendent Dr. Marisa Mendonsa and Assistant Superintendent Chad Mazza testified that the deficit stems from encumbered costs not reflected in the mid-year budget review, with the FY2027 budget request building in a five-student cushion above current enrollment.

The committee also approved $217,157 for softball field improvements at Veterans Athletic Complex and $12,118 for Government Center heating system upgrades, and accepted a $36,063.04 state grant for Council on Aging programs.
