Long Term Debt Committee · Meeting of May 18, 2026
Waltham approved an $8,640,291 loan to acquire the 600 Main Street building. The Long Term Debt Committee approved the authorization to consolidate city departments currently based at 119 School Street. Mayor Jeannette McCarthy told the committee the building would be partially leased to a bank, with the city occupying the remainder, and that parking was critical to the acquisition; rental payments of $18,000, $20,000, and $23,000 for the first three years could help offset loan costs.
The committee tabled the purchase and sale portion pending McCarthy's presentation of final agreements.
