Conservation Commission issues Negative 2 determination for Atrius Health generator project.

Conservation Commission · Meeting of April 9, 2026

Waltham Conservation Commission issues Negative 2 determination for Atrius Health emergency generator project. Environmental Scientist Taylor Donovan presented plans for installing an emergency generator, associated conduit, and dumpster at 1601 Trapelo Road within a previously developed buffer zone. Commissioners Michael Donovan, Lisa Limonciello, Anja Shafer, and Gerard Dufromont voted unanimously to issue the Negative 2 determination, finding the project outside jurisdictional wetland protection areas.

The Commission also approved prior meeting minutes and discussed revisions to a draft Administrative Tree Removal Policy that would allow certain limited tree removals through Conservation Agent Julia Abbott's administrative approval rather than requiring a formal Request for Determination of Applicability; staff will recirculate the revised policy for a vote at the April 23 meeting.
