Waltham Conservation Commission approves Beaver Brook Reservation invasive species zone expansion. The five-member panel unanimously backed a request by the Department of Conservation and Resources to expand Management Zone 5 within DEP file number 316-0777, clearing the way for volunteers from the Waltham Land Trust and Belmont Conservation Stewards to target woody invasives including porcelain berry and multiflora rose. In related business, the Commission directed an applicant seeking to convert a formerly proposed driving range at 200 Trapelo Road into a pitch-and-putt golf facility to apply for a Certificate of Compliance to close an outdated Order of Conditions and clarify which areas fall outside wetlands jurisdiction.
The Commission also received notice that the state Department of Environmental Protection has raised regional drought status to Level 2.
