Waltham City Council approves $35,000 fire safety grant while advancing $10.5 million police station design loan. At its April 13 meeting with all 15 councillors present, the council unanimously approved acceptance of the $35,000 Executive Office of Public Safety and Security grant for Waltham Fire Department equipment, with Councillor King recused. The Long Term Debt and Capital Planning Committee's recommendation for a $10,536,466 loan authorization for owner's project management and design services for the new Police Station at 155 Lexington Street advanced to first reading by voice vote.
The council also approved a $55,000 appropriation for continuing Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance and Map Update services, and referred two mayoral fund transfers ($44,950 for parking lot paving at 92 Felton Street and $20,000 for Housing Department general expenses) to the Finance Committee. Three joint zoning amendment hearings on Affordable Housing, Pet Grooming, and 494 Lincoln Street were closed and referred to Ordinances and Rules, with Board of Survey and Planning scheduled for May 6.
